I wholeheartedly praise Greta Thunberg because at the age of only 15 she became one of the most well known persons on earth by virtue of her outstanding activities regarding climate change that drew world wide support and attention. She was nominated for Noble Prize in 2019. According to Time Magazine in 2019, she is one of the 100 most influential persons on earth at the age of only 16. With her signature double braids and stern demeanor,  Greta Thunberg inspired a movement called Friday for Future, in which thousands of children have walked out of school in locally and  globally coordinated strikes. Greta Thunberg’s presence in Montreal created even much more interest in the climate march. An estimated five hundred thousand people thronged the streets of Montreal on Friday, the 27th September 2019 in a climate march that turned the city’s downtown into a sea of placard-waving climate change protesters. This was the largest rally in the history of both Montreal and Quebec. The driving forces behind the march were students, and classes at many high schools, colleges and universities were cancelled for the day. Many Montreal businesses, unions and community organizations also closed so their employees could attend the demonstration. Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg participated in the climate change protest rally in Montreal. The Prime Minister of Canada Justine Trudeau and Green Leader Elizabeth May also joined the march what used to be the largest of a series of marches taking place across Canada. Liberal Leader and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau met teenaged Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and praised her work. Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante, who has been outspoken about climate change and made public transit free for the day, gave Thunberg the keys to the city following the march. It was also a global climate march taking place in many countries urging for reducing green house gas emission drastically with a view to saving our mother earth from collapsing  under the movement of Greta Thunberg known as Friday for Future.

At an April 2019 meeting at the European Parliament in Strasbourg with Members of the European Parliament and EU officials, Greta Thunberg with brave heart chided those present “for three emergency Brexit summits and no emergency summit regarding the breakdown of the climate and the environment”. She said the world is facing its “sixth mass extinction” and said: “We have not treated this crisis as a crisis; we see it as another problem that needs to be fixed. But it is so much more than that. It’s an existential crisis, more important than anything else.”

She does not fly by airplane because of airplanes’ high emissions of gases. To reach New York for the United Nations speech, on Sept. 23, she was offered a ride on the Malizia II, a racing yacht that used solar panels and underwater generator turbines to avoid producing carbon emissions, according to a statement from Greta’s team. Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg boldly glared at U.S. President Donald Trump at the U.N. shortly after her speech where she called endless economic growth a ‘fairy tale.’ (Andrew Hofstetter/Reuters). On 23 September 2019, Thunberg addressed the assembled world leaders at the 2019 UN Climate Action Summit held in New York City. Greta Thunberg’s passion reached deep into our hearts when she angrily called on world leaders at the U.N. to stop the suffering and dying, to stop entire ecosystems from collapsing. Thunberg did something many of the most powerful people in the world will find harder to swallow: she thrust a knife into the beating heart of conventional economics. “We are at the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you!” 16 years old Swedish climate change crusader Greta Thunberg galvanized the world’s young people to demand action on climate change and also demonstrated confidence in speaking truth to power with her defiant condemnation of world leaders at the 74th session of United Nations General Assembly for their inaction on fighting climate change.

Greta Thunberg also addressed the crowd at the end of the climate change protest in Montreal on 27th September 2019 by saying, “We are not in school today, you are not at work today, because this is an emergency, and we will not be bystanders,” said the 16-year-old climate crusader whose bold activism has made headlines around the world. She further said “Some would say we are wasting lesson time. We say we are changing the world. So that when we are older, we will be able to look our children in the eyes and say that we did everything we could back then.”

On 11 December 2019, Thunberg addressed the COP25 in Madrid in Spain “In just three weeks, we will enter a new decade, a decade that will define our future. Right now we are desperate for any sign of hope. Well, I’m telling you, there is hope. I have seen it but it does not come from the governments or corporations. It comes from the people. The people who have been unaware but are now starting to wake up. And once we become aware, we change. People can change. People are ready for change. And that is the hope because we have democracy and democracy is happening all the time.”
