A Dramatic Table Tennis Tournament Finale Between China and Bangladesh
Ottawa, 10 March 2025: The Bangladesh High Commission in Canada successfully hosted a Table Tennis Tournament Final on March 10, 2025, marking the final event in a series of youth-focused initiatives under the Youth Festival 2025.
The tournament brought together young diplomats from various diplomatic missions in Canada, including China, the Netherlands, Guatemala, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, and Bangladesh. After a competitive series of matches, Mr. Md Faruk Hossain, Consul General of Bangladesh in Toronto, emerged as the champion, while Mr. Li Zhongzhou, Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of China, secured the runner-up position. The event underscored the role of sports in fostering diplomatic engagement and international camaraderie, among young diplomats in Canada.
The Youth Festival 2025 has served as a platform for young professionals and students to engage in meaningful dialogue, leadership programs, and cultural exchanges reflecting the spirit of youth movement in Bangladesh and revolution of July 2024. The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Canada Nahida Sobhan inaugurated the tournament and handed over the championship trophy at the closing ceremony. This Table Tennis Tournament was part of a series of events, including dialogues with Bangladesh-origin youths in Canada, networking sessions and essay competition, organized under Youth Festival 2025 by the High Commission.
