Ottawa, October 7, 2025   Thousands Join “Save Bangladesh Demonstration” at Canadian Parliament Despite Rain Ottawa, Canada — Despite cold and rainy weather, hundreds of Bangladeshi Canadians gathered in front of the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025, to participate in the “Save Bangladesh Demonstration.” The event was hosted by The Bengali Community Service Center of Canada (BCSCC) in collaboration with Bangladesh Awami League Ottawa Canada Branch, Canada Awami League, Quebec Awami League, Ontario Awami League, Canada Women Awami League, Canada Jubo League, and Canada Chhatra League. Participants from across Canada joined in solidarity to raise their voices for democracy, justice, and peace in Bangladesh, condemning the ongoing political violence, religious persecution, and human rights violations under the unelected interim regime led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus. During the demonstration, participants expressed strong support for the leadership of Bangladesh’s legitimate and beloved leader, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who delivered a live virtual address outlining her future plans to save Bangladesh from instability and the influence of extremist and anti-democratic forces. At the conclusion of the rally, the organizers submitted a formal Memorandum to the Prime Minister of Canada, The Right Honourable Mark Carney, and all Members of Parliament. The memorandum urged the Government of Canada to: Condemn ongoing human rights violations in Bangladesh; Hold the interim regime accountable for persecution and violence; Support international efforts to restore democracy and rule of law; and Ensure free, fair, and inclusive elections with participation from all political parties, including the Awami League. The event was led by Mr. Omer S. Sher, Chairman of BCSCC, and Mr. Abu Shaifuddien, Secretary of BCSCC, along with leaders from Awami League branches and affiliated organizations across Canada.

“We call upon the international community, especially the Canadian Government, to stand with the people of Bangladesh in their fight for democracy and justice,” said Mr. Sher.

“Bangladesh cannot be left in the hands of unelected and extremist-backed forces,” added Mr. Shaifuddien. The demonstration concluded peacefully with chants of “Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu,” symbolizing the enduring spirit of Bangladesh’s independence and unity.
