অটোয়াস্থ বাংলাদেশ হাইকমিশনে ‘মহান বিজয় দিবস’ উদযাপন
অটোয়াস্থ বাংলাদেশ হাইকমিশন আজ ১৬ ডিসেম্বর ২০২৩ তারিখে ‘মহান বিজয় দিবস-২০২৩’ যথাযোগ্য মর্যাদা ও উৎসব মুখর পরিবেশে দিনব্যাপী কর্মসূচির মাধ্যমে উদযাপন করে।
সকাল ৯:৩০ ঘটিকায় কানাডায় নিযুক্ত মান্যবর হাইকমিশনার ড. খলিলুর রহমান বাংলাদেশ হাউজে জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলনের মধ্য দিয়ে বিজয় দিবসের অনুষ্ঠানিক কার্যক্রম শুরু করেন। জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলনের সাথে সাথে জাতীয় সংগীত বাজানো হয়। এ সময় হাইকমিশনের সকল কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারীবৃন্দ উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
বেলা ১১.০০ (এগারো) ঘটিকায় হাইকমিশন অডিটোরিয়ামে শুরু হয় দিনের দ্বিতীয় কর্মসূচি। কানাডায় বসবাসরত মুক্তিযোদ্ধাগণসহ বাংলাদেশি কমিউনিটির সদস্যবৃন্দ এ অনুষ্ঠানে যোগদান করেন। ‘মহান বিজয় দিবস’ উপলক্ষ্যে আয়োজিত অনুষ্ঠানের শুরুতে জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান, তাঁর পরিবারের সদস্যবৃন্দ, মহান স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধে আত্মোৎসর্গকারী সকল শহিদ বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা ও সম্ভ্রমহারা ২ লাখ মা-বোনের স্মরণে ১ মিনিট নীরবতা পালন করা হয়। অত:পর মান্যবর হাইকমিশনার আমন্ত্রিত অতিথি ও হাইকমিশনের সকল কর্মকর্তা ও কর্মচারীদের নিয়ে স্বাধীন বাংলাদেশের স্থপতি বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান-এঁর প্রতিকৃতিতে পুষ্পস্তবক অর্পণ করেন। এ দিবস উপলক্ষ্যে পররাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয় কর্তৃক প্রেরিত মহামান্য রাষ্ট্রপতি, মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী, মাননীয় পররাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রী ও মাননীয় পররাষ্ট্র প্রতিমন্ত্রীর বিজয় দিবস উপলক্ষ্যে প্রদত্ত বাণীসমূহ মিশনের সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্মকর্তাগণ পাঠ করে শোনান। বাণী পাঠের পর মুক্তিযুদ্ধ এবং তৎপরবর্তী সময়ে বাংলাদেশের অর্জন ও সাফল্যের উপর নির্মিত একটি তথ্যচিত্র প্রদর্শন করা হয়।
সভাপতির বক্তব্যে মান্যবর হাইকমিশনার জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানসহ একাত্তরের ৩০ লক্ষ শহিদদেরকে বিনম্র চিত্তে শ্রদ্ধার সাথে স্মরণ করেন। তিনি কানাডায় বসবাসরত সকল বাংলাদেশিকে বিজয়ের উষ্ণ অভিনন্দন ও শুভেচ্ছা জানান। তিনি উল্লেখ করেন, প্রতি বছর ১৬ ডিসেম্বর বিজয় দিবস পালন আমাদের জন্য অত্যন্ত আনন্দ ও গর্বের বিষয় হলেও কানাডার মাটিতে বিজয় দিবস পালন আমাদের কাছে অনেক বেদনাদায়ক, কেননা এখানে আমাদের জাতির জনক বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের অন্যতম সাজাপ্রাপ্ত খুনি নূর চৌধুরী দীর্ঘ ২৮ বছর যাবত বসবাস করছে। সম্প্রতি গত ১৭ নভেম্বর ২০২৩ তারিখে কানাডার সরকারি টেলিভিশন, কানাডিয়ান ব্রডকাস্টিং কর্পোরেশন (সিবিসি) সাজাপ্রাপ্ত খুনি নূর চৌধুরীর এ দেশে অবস্থানের বিষয়ে প্রচারিত সুদীর্ঘ প্রামাণ্যচিত্রের মাধ্যমে কানাডার সর্ব-সাধারণ, নীতি-নির্ধারক ও আইন-প্রণেতাসহ অন্যান্য সবাই এই খুনির কানাডায় দীর্ঘ দিনের অবস্থান সম্পর্কে অবহিত হয়েছেন বলে তিনি উল্লেখ করেন। সিবিসির নির্মিত প্রামাণ্যচিত্রে কানাডার একজন সাবেক পাবলিক সেফটি মন্ত্রী এবং একজন স্বনামধন্য আইনজীবী এই জঘন্যতম খুনিকে কানাডা সরকারের ফিরিয়ে দেওয়া উচিত বলে মত প্রকাশ করেছেন। বাংলাদেশে আসন্ন জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনের পর খুনি নূর চৌধুরীকে ফিরিয়ে নেবার ব্যাপারে হাইকমিশন জোরেশোরে কাজ শুরু করতে পারবে বলে তিনি আশা প্রকাশ করেন। এ লক্ষ্যে তিনি বাংলাদেশ সরকারের সংশ্লিষ্ট মন্ত্রণালয়, বিভাগ ও সংস্থাগুলোর সাথে হাইকমিশনের ঘনিষ্ঠ সমন্বয়ের উপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন।
এছাড়া, মান্যবর হাইকমিশনার বাংলাদেশে আসন্ন জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনকে কেন্দ্র করে যেসকল স্বাধীনতা বিরোধী অপশক্তি রাজনৈতিক কর্মসূচির নামে সহিংসতা চালাচ্ছে দেশে-বিদেশে তাদেরকে প্রতিহত করতে সকলকে অনুরোধ জানান। তিনি সকলকে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের চেতনায় অসাম্প্রদায়িক বাংলাদেশ গঠনে কাজ করতে আহ্বান জানান।
সবশেষে, কানাডায় বসবাসরত বাংলাদেশি শিল্পীবৃন্দের উপস্থাপনায় উপস্থিত সকলে একটি মনোজ্ঞ সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান উপভোগ করেন।
Observance of ‘Victory Day 2023’ by the Bangladesh High Commission in Ottawa, Canada
The High Commission of Bangladesh in Ottawa, Canada celebrated ‘Victory Day-2023’ on 16 December 2023, with profound dignity and festive ambience, in a day-long program.
The proceedings of the day commenced at 9:30 a.m. with the hoisting of the national flag by His Excellency the High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Canada, Dr. Khalilur Rahman with the rendition of National Anthem. All officers and officials of the Mission were present during this flag hoisting ceremony.
The second segment of the celebration began at 11:00 a.m. in the High Commission Auditorium. Freedom fighters living in Canada along with other Members of the Bangladeshi community attended the event. The event was chaired by His Excellency the High Commissioner. At the beginning, a one-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his martyred family members, all the valiant freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives and two hundred thousand women who lost their sanctity in our Great War of Independence. Subsequently, H.E., the High Commissioner laid floral wreaths at the portrait of our Founding Father and Architect of Independence, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Following this, officers of the Mission read out special messages, marking the Victory Day given by the Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble Minister of State for Foreign Affairs received from MoFA, Dhaka. This was followed by the broadcasting of a documentary highlighting the perspectives of the emergence of Bangladesh under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
In his address as Chair of the event, the High Commissioner remembered Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his martyred family members and 30 lakhs martyred freedom fighters with deep respect. He also conveyed warm congratulations and best wishes to all Bangladeshis residing in Canada on the Victory Day. He emphasized that while celebrating Victory Day on16 December every year brings great joy and pride, commemorating it on Canadian soil is also tinged with deep sorrow due to the hosting of the convicted killer Nur Chowdhury, one of the main assassins of our Founding Father and other martyrs of 1975, for past 28 years by the Canadian Government.
Referring to the documentary on Canada’s continuing hosting of this heinous killer aired by Canadian public broadcaster, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) on 17 November 2023, High Commissioner highlighted this documentary’s role in raising awareness among the Canadian public, policymakers, and legislators about the convicted killer Nur Chowdhury’s presence. He expressed hope that the High Commission will be able to deploy all diplomatic machineries and other available tools at full scale after the upcoming Parliamentary Election in Bangladesh to deport this monstrous killer to face the verdict of the court. In this regard, he stressed on the necessary close coordination between the High Commission and relevant Ministries, departments and organizations of the Government of Bangladesh.
H.E., the High Commissioner urged vigilance from all Bangladeshis living home and abroad against anti-Bangladesh forces who are orchestrating violence across the country under the plea of political program, especially in light of the upcoming National Parliamentary Elections in Bangladesh. He also urged everyone to work towards a secular Bangladesh following the fundamental spirit of our liberation war.
The event concluded with a festive cultural program featuring performances by Bangladeshi artists residing in Canada.
