অটোয়াস্থ বাংলাদেশ হাইকমিশন কর্তৃক যথাযোগ্য মর্যাদায় বঙ্গমাতা বেগম ফজিলাতুন নেছা মুজিব-এর ৯৩ তম এবং বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা শহিদ ক্যাপ্টেন শেখ কামাল-এর ৭৪ তম জন্মবার্ষিকী উদযাপন।
বাংলাদেশ হাইকমিশন, অটোয়া, কানাডা আজ যথাযোগ্য মর্যাদায় জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান-এর সহধর্মিনী বঙ্গমাতা বেগম ফজিলাতুন নেছা মুজিব-এর ৯৩তম এবং জ্যেষ্ঠ পুত্র বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা শহিদ ক্যাপ্টেন শেখ কামাল-এর ৭৪তম জন্মবার্ষিকী পালন করে। উক্ত অনুষ্ঠানের সভাপতিত্ব করেন কানাডায় নিযুক্ত বাংলাদেশের মান্যবর হাইকমিশনার ড. খলিলুর রহমান।
অনুষ্ঠানের সঞ্চালক ও দূতাবাসের কাউন্সেলর মিস অপর্ণা রানী পাল সম্মানিত অতিথি ও অংশগ্রহণকারীদের স্বাগত জানিয়ে অনুষ্ঠান সূচনা করেন। অনুষ্ঠান উপলক্ষে মহামান্য রাষ্ট্রপতি ও মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রীর বিশেষ বাণীসমূহ পাঠ করে শুনানো হয়। বাণী পাঠের পর বঙ্গমাতা বেগম ফজিলাতুন নেছা মুজিব এবং বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা শহিদ ক্যাপ্টেন শেখ কামাল-এর জীবন ও কর্মের উপর নির্মিত দুটি প্রামান্য চিত্র প্রদর্শন করা হয়।
আলোচনা সভায় অংশগ্রহণকারীগণ বঙ্গবন্ধুর সহধর্মিণী বঙ্গমাতা বেগম ফজিলাতুন নেছা মুজিব-এর অসাধারণ ব্যক্তিত্ব, তাঁর জীবন ও বাংলাদেশের স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রামে তাঁর অবদান ও প্রভাব সম্পর্কে আলোচনা করেন। অনুষ্ঠানে কানাডাস্থ বাংলাদেশ আওয়ামীলীগ ও বাংলাদেশী কমিউনিটির নেতৃস্থানীয় ব্যক্তিবর্গ বাংলাদেশের স্বাধীনতা অর্জন ও উন্নয়নে বঙ্গমাতা বেগম ফজিলাতুন নেছা মুজিব, শেখ কামালসহ বঙ্গবন্ধু পরিবারের সর্বোচ্চ ত্যাগ ও অবদানের উপর আলোকপাত করে বক্তৃতা প্রদান করেন।
বক্তারা আমাদের মুক্তিসংগ্রামের প্রতিটি ধাপের নেপথ্যে থেকে জাতির পিতাকে প্রেরণা ও সক্রিয় সহযোগিতা প্রদানে মহিয়সী নারী বঙ্গমাতা বেগম ফজিলাতুন নেছা মুজিব-এর অবদানের কথা তুলে ধরেন। তাঁরা বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা শহিদ ক্যাপ্টেন শেখ কামালকে বাংলাদেশের ক্রীড়া ব্যবস্থাকে আধুনিকীকরণের পথ প্রদর্শক হিসেবে অভিহিত করেন। বক্তারা বলেন, আবাহনী ক্রীড়াচক্র প্রতিষ্ঠার মাধ্যমে বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা শহিদ ক্যাপ্টেন শেখ কামাল দেশের ফুটবল, হকি, ক্রিকেটসহ অন্যান্য খেলার উন্নয়নে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেন। বক্তারা আরও বলেন, ক্রীড়াক্ষেত্রে অবদানের পাশাপাশি ‘স্পন্দন শিল্পগোষ্ঠী’ প্রতিষ্ঠার মাধ্যমে তিনি সংস্কৃতি চর্চার ক্ষেত্রেও অবদান রাখেন। বাংলাদেশের ক্রীড়া ও সংস্কৃতির উন্নয়নের এবং বিকাশে যে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অবদান রেখে গেছেন তা বাংলাদেশের জনগণের কাছে বিশেষত যুব সমাজের কাছে অফুরন্ত অনুপ্রেরণার উৎস হয়ে থাকবে বলে বক্তারা মনে করেন।
সভাপতির বক্তব্যে মান্যবর হাইকমিশনার ড. খলিলুর রহমান জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান, বঙ্গমাতা বেগম ফজিলাতুন নেছা মুজিব এবং বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা শহিদ ক্যাপ্টেন শেখ কামালসহ ১৫ আগস্টে সকল শহীদের আত্মার প্রতি গভীর শ্রদ্ধা নিবেদন করেন। তিনি বঙ্গমাতাকে বঙ্গবন্ধুর জীবনের রাজনৈতিক প্রেরণা হিসেবে উল্লেখ করেন। তিনি বলেন বঙ্গমাতার রাজনৈতিক প্রজ্ঞা, দেশপ্রেম ও আত্মত্যাগ তাঁকে বঙ্গমাতা হিসেবে ভূষিত করেছে। তিনি শহিদ ক্যাপ্টেন শেখ কামালের বিনয়ী এবং নিরহংকার জীবনের কথা উল্লেখ করে তাঁকে মেধাবী, সংস্কৃতমনা, ক্রীড়ানুরাগী এবং দক্ষ রাজনৈতিক ব্যক্তিত্ব হিসাবে স্মরণ করেন। মান্যবর হাইকমিশনার মুক্তিযুদ্ধের চেতনায় অসাম্প্রদায়িক বাংলাদেশ গঠনে বঙ্গমাতা ও ক্যাপ্টন শেখ কামালের জীবন থেকে সকলকে অনুপ্রেরণা গ্রহণের অনুরোধ করেন। তিনি জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানসহ তাঁর পরিবারের সদস্যেদের হত্যাকারী সাজাপ্রাপ্ত আসামী আত্মস্বীকৃত খুনী নূর চৌধুরীকে কানাডা হতে বাংলাদেশে ফিরিয়ে নিয়ে শাস্তি নিশ্চিত করতে অঙ্গীকার ব্যক্ত করেন এবং এ বিষয়ে কানাডাস্থ প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশীদেরকে সার্বিক সহযোগিতা করার জন্য আহ্বান জানান।
সবশেষে, বঙ্গমাতা বেগম ফজিলাতুন নেছা মুজিব, বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা শহিদ ক্যাপ্টেন শেখ কামালসহ ১৯৭৫ সালের ১৫ আগস্ট নির্মম হত্যাকান্ডের শিকার জাতির পিতার পরিবারের সকল শহীদ সদস্যদের আত্মার শান্তি এবং বাংলাদেশের উত্তরোত্তর উন্নয়ন ও সমৃদ্ধির জন্য বিশেষ মোনাজাত করা হয়।
Commemoration of the 93rd Birth Anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib and the 74th Birth Anniversary of Heroic Freedom Fighter Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal.
The Bangladesh High Commission in Ottawa, Canada organised an event marking the 93rd birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib and the 74th Birth Anniversary of Heroic Freedom Fighter Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal with great solemnity.
Special messages given by the Hon’ble President and the Hon’ble Prime Minister marking these two events were read out by the officers of the Mission. Following this, two documentaries portraying the remarkable lives and contributions of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib and the heroic freedom fighter Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal to the liberation war and nation building were screened.
After that, a special discussion session highlighting the lives, unwavering dedication, and impactful role of Bangamata and Sheikh Kamal was held. Distinguished figures from the Bangladesh Awami League and the Bangladeshi community in Canada delivered speeches underscoring the supreme sacrifices and contributions of the entire Bangabandhu family, including Bangamata and Sheikh Kamal, in the attainment of freedom.
The speakers lauded the influential role of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib for inspirational, active and unwavering support for the Father of the Nation throughout his life. At the same time, speakers hailed the heroic freedom fighter Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal as a pioneer for modernizing Bangladesh’s sports landscape. The establishment of Abahani Krira Chakra by Captain Sheikh Kamal was noted as a pivotal factor in fostering the development of football, hockey, cricket, and other sports in the country. Additionally, his contribution to cultural enrichment through the establishment of ‘Spondon Shilpi Gosthi’ was acknowledged and highly appreciated. The speakers emphasized that Captain Sheikh Kamal’s indelible imprint on sports and culture will serve as an enduring source of motivation, particularly for the future generation of Bangladesh.
At the outset, His Excellency the High Commissioner, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, in his deliberations, paid heartfelt tributes to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, and Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal as well as other martyrs of the 15 August 1975, including all the freedom fighters. He extolled Bangamata’s profound political acumen, patriotism, and selflessness. High Commissioner also recalled the modest yet impactful life of the Captain Sheikh Kamal, celebrating him as a luminary, cultural enthusiast, sportsman, and astute political figure. He called upon all, particularly the young generation, to draw inspiration from the lives of Bangamata and Captain Sheikh Kamal for the creation of a non-communal Bangladesh aligned with the spirit of the Liberation War.
The commemorative event concluded with a special prayer for the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata, Captain Sheikh Kamal and all other martyrs of 15 August 1975 as well as 3 million martyrs of war of liberation. Prayers were also offered for the continued development and prosperity of Bangladesh.
