ওয়াশিংটন ডিসি ৮ আগস্ট। স্বাধীনতা ও মুক্তি সংগ্রাম এবং দেশ পুনর্গঠনে বঙ্গমাতার অসামান্য অবদানের কথা শ্রদ্ধার সাথে স্মরণ করে ওয়াশিংটনস্থ বাংলাদেশ দূতাবাসে আজ (মঙ্গলবার) যথাযোগ্য মর্যাদায় জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের সহধর্মিণী বঙ্গমাতা শেখ ফজিলাতুন নেছা মুজিবের ৯৩তম জন্মবার্ষিকী পালিত হয়েছে।
এ উপলক্ষে দূতাবাস বঙ্গবন্ধু মিলনায়তনে পরিবার, সমাজ ও জাতির প্রতি বঙ্গমাতার মহান আত্মত্যাগকে স্মরণ করে বিভিন্ন অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করে।
যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে নিযুক্ত বাংলাদেশের রাষ্ট্রদূত মোহাম্মদ ইমরান কর্তৃক বিকেলে জাতির পিতা এবং বঙ্গমাতার প্রতিকৃতিতে পুষ্পস্তবক অর্পণের মধ্য দিয়ে কর্মসূচি শুরু হয়। এসময় মিশনের কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারীবৃন্দ উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
মহামান্য রাষ্ট্রপতি মোঃ সাহাবুদ্দিন এবং মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা প্রদত্ত বাণী পাঠ করে শোনান ডিফেন্স অ্যাটাচে ব্রিগেডিয়ার জেনারেল মোঃ শাহেদুল ইসলাম এবং ফার্স্ট সেক্রেটারী (পাসপোর্ট ও ভিসা) মুহাম্মদ আবদুল হাই মিল্টন।
পরে বঙ্গমাতার জীবন ও কর্মের উপর দুটি প্রামাণ্যচিত্র প্রদর্শিত এবং এক আলোচনাসভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।
আলোচনায় অংশ নিয়ে রাষ্ট্রদূত মোহাম্মদ ইমরান বঙ্গমাতা ও বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের প্রতি গভীর শ্রদ্ধা নিবেদন করেন এবং মহান মুক্তিযুদ্ধে এবং যুদ্ধবিধ্বস্ত দেশ পুনর্গঠনে বঙ্গমাতার অনন্য অবদানের কথা শ্রদ্ধার সাথে স্মরণ করেন।
রাষ্ট্রদূত জাতির পিতার বিশ্বস্ত জীবনসঙ্গী হিসেবে ফজিলাতুন নেছা মুজিবের অসামান্য ভূমিকার কথা উল্লেখ করে বলেন তিনি বঙ্গবন্ধুর আদর্শকে তার জীবনে লালন ও ধারণ করেছেন এবং তার সন্তানদেরও একই আদর্শে গড়ে তুলেছেন।
রাষ্ট্রদূত ইমরান বলেন বঙ্গবন্ধু ও বঙ্গমাতার সুযোগ্য কন্যা মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা একই শিক্ষা, আদর্শ ও চেতনা অনুসরণ করে একটি সুখী-সমৃদ্ধ ‘স্মার্ট বাংলাদেশ’ গড়তে নিরলসভাবে কাজ করে যাচ্ছেন।
রাষ্ট্রদূত বলেন বঙ্গমাতা ফজিলাতুন নেছা মুজিব যে আদর্শ ও দৃষ্টান্ত রেখে গেছেন তা বাঙালি নারীদের জন্য চিরকাল অনুপ্রেরণার উৎস হয়ে থাকবে। তিনি একই সঙ্গে বঙ্গমাতার জীবন চর্চার মাধ্যমে নতুন প্রজন্ম আলোকিত ও দেশপ্রেমে উদ্বুদ্ধ হবে বলে আশা প্রকাশ করেন।
মিনিস্টার (প্রেস) এজেডএম সাজ্জাদ হোসেন আলোচনায় অংশ নেন এবং বঙ্গমাতার বর্ণাঢ্য জীবন ও কর্মের বিভিন্ন দিকের ওপর আলোকপাত করেন। তিনি বলেন বঙ্গবন্ধু এবং তার দলের নেতা-কর্মীদেরকে প্রেরণা, শক্তি ও সাহস যুগিয়ে স্বাধীনতা ও মুক্তির সংগ্রামকে সঠিক লক্ষ্যে নিয়ে যেতে বঙ্গমাতা সাহসী ভূমিকা পালন করেছেন।
১৯৭৫ সালের ১৫ আগস্ট রাতে শহিদ বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান, বঙ্গমাতা ফজিলাতুন নেছা মুজিব ও তাদের পরিবারের সদস্যদের এবং অন্যান্যদের বিদেহী আত্মার মাগফেরাত কামনা করে বিশেষ মোনাজাতের মাধ্যমে কর্মসূচি শেষ হয়। অনুষ্ঠানটি পরিচালনা করেন ফার্স্ট সেক্রেটারী মোঃ আতাউর রহমান।

 

Bangamata’s 93rd birth anniversary observed at Bangladesh Embassy in Washington:

Bangamata would remain as source of inspiration for Bengali womenfolk forever: Ambassador Imran

Washington, DC, 08 August 2023— The Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC today (Tuesday) observed the 93rd birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, recalling Bangamata’s outstanding contributions to independence struggle and rebuilding the country.

On the occasion, the Embassy organised different programs at the Bangabandhu Auditorium to commemorate Bangamata’s great sacrifice and dedication to her family, society and the nation.

The programs began with the placing of floral wreaths by Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA Muhammad Imran at the bust of the Father of the Nation and at the portrait of Bangamata in the afternoon. Officials and employees of the Mission were present on the occasion.

The messages issued by Hon’ble President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were read out by Defence Attaché Brigadier General Md Shahedul Islam and First Secretary (Passport and Visa) Muhammad Abdul Hye Milton.

Later, two documentaries on the life and works of Bangamata were screened which was followed by a discussion session.

Taking part in the discussion, Bangladesh Ambassador Muhammad Imran paid rich tributes to Bangamata and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and recalled Bangamata’s great contribution to the great War of Liberation and rebuilding the war-ravaged nation.

The Ambassador mentioned Fazilatun Nesa Mujib’s outstanding role as the trusted life partner of the Father of the Nation and said she nurtured Bangabandhu’s ideology in her life and grew up her children in the same ideology as well.

Ambassador Imran said Bangabandhu and Bangamata’s able daughter Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working ceaselessly to build a happy and prosperous ‘Smart Bangladesh’ by following the identical teaching, ideology and spirit.

The Ambassador said the ideology and examples that Bangamata Fazilatun Nesa Mujib has left would remain as a source of inspiration for the Bengali womenfolk forever. He simultaneously hoped that the new generations would be enlightened and inspired in patriotism by practicing Bangamata’s life.

Minister (Press) AZM Sajjad Hossain also took part in the discussion and focused on different aspects of colorful life and works of Bangamata. Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib played a courageous role in taking independence and freedom struggle to right direction by providing inspiration and strength to Bangabandhu as well as the party leaders and activists, he said.

The programs ended with offering a special prayer, seeking eternal peace for departed souls of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, their family members, and others martyred on the fateful night of 15 August 1975. First Secretary Md Ataur Rahman conducted the function.
