Pearson partners with British Council to honour top students at 12th Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards
[Dhaka, November 22, 2025] Pearson Edexcel, a global leader in education and the UK’s largest awarding body, in partnership with the British Council, hosted the 12th Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards (OPLA) on November 21st, 2025, to honour exceptional students in Bangladesh who excelled in their International Primary, International Lower Secondary, International GCSE and International A Level examinations in 2025.
The event was organised at the prestigious Hall of Fame, Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre, Dhaka.
Kathryn Booth, Director, Pearson School Qualifications, attended the ceremony as the chief guest, while Maxim Raimann, Exams Director Bangladesh, British Council and Sakib Ershad, Director, Trade and Investment, British High Commission Bangladesh were present as special guests.
This year, 736 students were recognized for their outstanding performance. Among them, 24 students earned the World Highest and 4 students were awarded with Asia Highest awards, while 41 students secured the highest marks in Bangladesh. The awardees included 21 iPrimary, 1 iLowerSecondary, 456 International GCSE, and 183 International A-level students.
The event included addresses from Kathryn Booth, Director, Pearson School Qualifications, Maxim Raimann, Exams Director Bangladesh, British Council, Sakib Ershad, Director, Trade and Investment, British High Commission Bangladesh, Abdullah Al Mamun Liton, Regional Development Manager, Pearson Bangladesh and Nepal and Jannatul Ferdous Sigma, Regional Development Manager, Pearson Bangladesh. They congratulated the students and expressed their gratitude to the teachers and parents for their contribution to the success of the students.
During her speech, Kathryn Booth encouraged the students to be lifelong learners and use their talents to make a difference in the world around them, saying, “Today, on this auspicious occasion, we are celebrating the success of the bright young minds of Bangladesh as a part of Pearson. The recognition the awardees receive today for their outstanding achievements is both a certificate of excellence and a credential for their future. At Pearson, we encourage students to learn, to think, and to develop real transferable skills to prepare themselves for what lies ahead. You will now move forward to the next stage of life and encounter new perspectives and experiences that will enrich your understanding. I urge you to keep an open mind and a curious spirit. Stay connected with your teachers, and use your talents to make a difference in the world around you.”

When we learn from one another, we all grow, said Maxim Raimann, Exams Director Bangladesh, British Council, during his speech. “At the British Council, we build bridges of understanding through education, helping every generation rise together. Thus, as you move forward, stay true to your younger selves and keep that flame of youth burning bright.”
Abdullah Al Mamun Liton and Jannatul Ferdous Sigma from Pearson Bangladesh discussed how Pearson Edexcel qualifications continue to open doors for Bangladeshi students, allowing them to pursue higher education at top institutions worldwide. Since 2012, this award ceremony has recognized more than 8,000 achievers.

[ঢাকা, ২২ নভেম্বর ২০২৫] ব্রিটিশ কাউন্সিলের অংশীদারিত্বে গতকাল (২১ নভেম্বর) ১২তম আউটস্ট্যান্ডিং পিয়ারসন লার্নার অ্যাওয়ার্ডস (ওপিএলএ) আয়োজন করেছে শিক্ষা খাতে বৈশ্বিকভাবে শীর্ষস্থানীয় প্রতিষ্ঠান ও যুক্তরাজ্যের সবচেয়ে বড় অ্যাওয়ার্ডিং বডি পিয়ারসন এডেক্সেল। এ বছর ইন্টারন্যাশনাল প্রাইমারি, ইন্টারন্যাশনাল লোয়ার সেকেন্ডারি, ইন্টারন্যাশনাল জিসিএসই এবং ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ‘এ’ লেভেল পরীক্ষায় অসাধারণ ফলাফল অর্জনকারী বাংলাদেশের মেধাবী শিক্ষার্থীদের সম্মান জানাতে এ অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হয়।
অনুষ্ঠানটি রাজধানীর বাংলাদেশ-চীন মৈত্রী সম্মেলন কেন্দ্রের হল অব ফেমে আয়োজিত হয়।
অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন পিয়ারসন স্কুল কোয়ালিফিকেশনসের ডিরেক্টর ক্যাথরিন বুথ এবং বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ব্রিটিশ কাউন্সিলের এক্সামস ডিরেক্টর বাংলাদেশ ম্যাক্সিম রাইমান ও ব্রিটিশ হাই কমিশন বাংলাদেশের ট্রেড অ্যান্ড ইনভেস্টমেন্টের ডিরেক্টর সাকিব এরশাদ।
অসাধারণ কৃতিত্ব অর্জনের জন্য এ বছর মোট ৭৩৬ জন শিক্ষার্থীকে স্বীকৃতি প্রদান করা হয়। স্বীকৃতি পাওয়া শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে ছিলেন বিশ্বের মধ্যে সর্বোচ্চ নম্বর পাওয়া ২৪ জন, এশিয়ার মধ্যে সর্বোচ্চ নম্বর পাওয়া ৪ জন এবং বাংলাদেশে সর্বোচ্চ নম্বর অর্জন করা ৪১ জন শিক্ষার্থী। পুরস্কারপ্রাপ্তদের মধ্যে ছিলেন ২১ জন আইপ্রাইমারি, ১ জন আইলোয়ারসেকেন্ডারি, ৪৫৬ জন ইন্টারন্যাশনাল জিসিএসই এবং ১৮৩ জন ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ‘এ’ লেভেল শিক্ষার্থী।
অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তব্য রাখেন পিয়ারসন স্কুল কোয়ালিফিকেশনসের ডিরেক্টর ক্যাথরিন বুথ, ব্রিটিশ কাউন্সিলের এক্সামস ডিরেক্টর বাংলাদেশ ম্যাক্সিম রাইমান, ব্রিটিশ হাই কমিশন বাংলাদেশের ট্রেড অ্যান্ড ইনভেস্টমেন্টের ডিরেক্টর সাকিব এরশাদ, পিয়ারসন বাংলাদেশ ও নেপালের রিজিওনাল ডেভেলপমেন্ট ম্যানেজার আবদুল্লাহ আল মামুন লিটন এবং পিরাসন বাংলাদেশের রিজিওনাল ডেভেলপমেন্ট ম্যানেজার জান্নাতুল ফেরদৌস সিগমা। বক্তব্যে তারা শিক্ষার্থীদের অভিনন্দন জানান এবং শিক্ষার্থীদের সাফল্যে অবদান রাখার জন্য শিক্ষক ও অভিভাবকদের প্রতি কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করেন।
নিজের বক্তব্যে ক্যাথরিন বুথ শিক্ষার্থীদের শেখার প্রক্রিয়া অব্যাহত রাখা এবং নিজেদের মেধা ও প্রতিভার মাধ্যমে পৃথিবীতে ইতিবাচক পরিবর্তন আনার ব্যাপারে উৎসাহ দিয়ে বলেন, “আজ চমৎকার এই দিনে পিয়ারসনের অংশ হিসেবে আমরা বাংলাদেশের তরুণ মেধাবী শিক্ষার্থীদের সাফল্য উদযাপন করছি। অনন্য অর্জনের জন্য শিক্ষার্থীরা আজ যে স্বীকৃতি পাচ্ছে, তা শুধুমাত্র উৎকর্ষ অর্জনের প্রচেষ্টাই নয়, পাশাপশি তাদের ভবিষ্যতের জন্যও স্বীকৃতিস্বরূপ। পিয়ারসনে আমরা শিক্ষার্থীদের শেখার, ভাবার এবং ভবিষ্যতের জন্য নিজেকে প্রস্তুত করে তুলতে রূপান্তরমূলক দক্ষতা অর্জনে উৎসাহিত করি। আপনারা এখন জীবনের পরবর্তী অধ্যায়ে প্রবেশ করবেন, নতুন দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি ও অভিজ্ঞতার মুখোমুখি হবেন, যা আপনাদের বোঝাপড়াকে সমৃদ্ধ করবে। আপনাদের উদার মানসিকতার হতে হবে এবং সবসময় কৌতূহলী থাকতে হবে। আশা করি, আপনারা শিক্ষকদের সাথেও যোগাযোগ রাখবেন এবং মেধা ও প্রভিভার মাধ্যমে পৃথিবীতে ইতিবাচক পরিবর্তন আনতে ভূমিকা রাখবেন।”
ব্রিটিশ কাউন্সিলের এক্সামস ডিরেক্টর বাংলাদেশ ম্যাক্সিম রাইমান শিক্ষার্থীদের উদ্দেশ্যে বলেন, “তারুণ্য মানেই কৌতূহল, নতুন পরিবেশের সাথে মানিয়ে নেয়া এবং লক্ষ্য অর্জনে এগিয়ে যাওয়া। অন্যদিকে, বয়সের সাথে সাথে আসে অভিজ্ঞতা, স্থিরতা ও প্রজ্ঞা। একে অন্যের কাছ থেকে শেখার মাধ্যমেই আমরা এগিয়ে যাই। ব্রিটিশ কাউন্সিলে আমরা শিক্ষার মাধ্যমে ঐক্য ও পারস্পারিক বোঝাপড়া বৃদ্ধিতে কাজ করি, যেন প্রতিটি প্রজন্ম একসাথে এগিয়ে যেতে পারে। সময়ের সাথে সাথে আপনারা সামনে এগিয়ে যাবেন; এক্ষেত্রে, নিজেদের তারুণ্যের প্রতি সৎ থাকুন এবং অন্তনির্হিত তারুণ্যের আলোকে আলোকিত হোন।”
কীভাবে পিয়ারসন এডেক্সেল কোয়ালিফিকেশন বাংলাদেশের শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য বিশ্বের শীর্ষস্থানীয় শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোতে উচ্চশিক্ষার পথ উন্মুক্ত করে চলেছে, তা নিয়ে বক্তব্য রাখেন পিয়ারসন বাংলাদেশের আবদুল্লাহ আল মামুন লিটন ও জান্নাতুল ফেরদৌস সিগমা। উল্লেখ্য, ২০১২ সাল থেকে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়ে আসছে এ অ্যাওয়ার্ড অনুষ্ঠান, এবং এখন পর্যন্ত ৮ হাজারের বেশি কৃতি শিক্ষার্থীকে এ অনুষ্ঠানের মাধ্যমে স্বীকৃতি প্রদান করা হয়েছে।
