First open-air exhibition on boulevard Décarie
Saint-Laurent, May 8, 2023 – The paintings by the artist, Étienne Côté (1959-2022), who was born and who lived in Saint-Laurent, are on display outdoors on boulevard Décarie thanks to the installation of 10 two-sided structures from place Rodolphe-Rousseau to parc Beaudet. May 4 marked the grand opening of the exhibition and the inauguration of these new outdoor installations designed to display artwork year-round.
Quote
“I love the fact that today’s exhibition is the first in a long series, because these installations will be able to accommodate exhibition proposals from our different cultural partners all year long. In the meantime, I invite residents to enjoy a pleasant stroll through Vieux Saint-Laurent while admiring these delightful paintings!”
Alan DeSousa, Mayor of Saint-Laurent
Inauguration of new outdoor installations
The De tous Côté exhibition revolves around three themes: yards, oceans, and gardens. Through a selection of works chosen by his former wife and the exhibition’s commissioner, Maryse Gagné, the luminous and universal paintings of this great artist are displayed in all their splendour.
De tous Côté will be on display until October 31. It can be viewed on any journey, by foot or by car. It’s a gorgeous route!
Considered as joint property for our cultural partners, these new installations demonstrate the desire to decentralize culture. Since this project also embraces the objective of giving the public better access to and knowledge of the artistic wealth on the territory, there will be successive exhibitions.
