24th June is a public holiday on occasion of Fete Nationale du Quebec
La Fete Nationale du Quebec also known as Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day is a holiday celebrated on June 24 by French Canadians across Quebec in Canada. It was brought to Canada by French settlers celebrating the traditional Feast Day of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist-the patron-saint of the French speaking Canadians. It has been declared a public holiday in the province of Quebec with publicly financed numerous events organized throughout the province of Quebec widely by a ComitÊ organisateur de la fÃĒte nationale du QuÊbec. The feast day of Saint John the Baptist was a popular feast day in many European countries. The holiday arrived in Quebec along with the first French colonists.
24th June is a public holiday on occasion of Fete Nationale du Quebec (formerly known as Saint-Jean Baptiste Day) in the Quebec province of Canada. Thousands used to take part in the annual parade of Fete Nationale in Montreal every year. There were also outdoor events and concerts to celebrate this day with due solemnity. Quebecers celebrate this festival to honor Quebec’s unique heritage, identity and history. It is going to be a very different FÃĒte Nationale this year in 2020 and nowhere is that difference more apparent than in Safia Nolinâs alternative online-only event Saint-Jeanne. Because of the COVID-19 crisis and the provincial governmentâs banning of all major sporting and cultural events until Aug. 31, there will be no big FÃĒte nationale parade in Montreal. Nor will there be the usual public outdoor concerts in Montreal and on the Plains of Abraham in Quebec City. Instead, the Quebec and Montreal FÃĒte nationale organizers have teamed up together to present one show, Tout le QuÊbec à lâunisson, which was pre-taped at LâamphithÊatre Cogeco in Trois-Rivières and broadcast on the four main francophone TV networks â Radio-Canada, TVA, V and TÊlÊ-QuÊbec â on June 23 at 8 p.m.
