Historic Mujibnagar Day ওয়াশিংটনে বাংলাদেশ দূতাবাসে ঐতিহাসিক মুজিবনগর দিবস পালিত
ওয়াশিংটন ডিসি, ১৯৭১ সালের ১৭ এপ্রিল স্বাধীন বাংলাদেশের প্রথম সরকারের আনুষ্ঠানিক শপথ গ্রহণের ঐতিহাসিক ঘটনাকে স্মরণ করে আজ (সোমবার) ওয়াশিংটন ডিসিতে অবস্থিত বাংলাদেশ দূতাবাসে যথাযোগ্য মর্যাদায় ঐতিহাসিক মুজিবনগর দিবস পালিত হয়েছে।
যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে নিযুক্ত বাংলাদেশের রাষ্ট্রদূত মোহাম্মদ ইমরান কর্তৃক দূতাবাসের বঙ্গবন্ধু কর্ণারে অবস্থিত জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের আবক্ষ মূর্তিতে পুষ্পস্তবক অর্পনের মাধ্যমে দিনের কর্মসূচী শুরু হয়। এ সময় দূতাবাসের অন্যান্য কর্মকর্তাবৃন্দ উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
পরে বঙ্গবন্ধু মিলনায়তনে দিবসটি উপলক্ষে মহামান্য রাষ্ট্রপতি মোঃ আবদুল হামিদ ও মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা প্রদত্ত বাণী পাঠ করে শোনান ডিফেন্স অ্যাটাচে ব্রিগেডিয়ার জেনারেল মোঃ শাহেদুল ইসলাম ও ফার্স্ট সেক্রেটারি মোঃ আতাউর রহমান।
পরে ‘মুজিবনগর: বাংলাদেশের প্রথম রাজধানী’ শীর্ষক একটি প্রামাণ্যচিত্র প্রদর্শন করা হয় এবং দিবসটির তাৎপর্য তুলে ধরে এক আলোচনা পর্ব অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।
আলোচনায় অংশ নিয়ে রাষ্ট্রদূত ইমরান জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান, জাতীয় চার নেতা এবং ত্রিশ লক্ষ শহিদের প্রতি গভীর শ্রদ্ধা নিবেদন করেন। তিনি বলেন, মুজিবনগর দিবস বাংলাদেশের স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রাম ও মুক্তিযুদ্ধের ইতিহাসে অনন্য এক দিন এবং মুজিবনগর বাঙালি জাতির বীরত্বের প্রতীক।
রাষ্ট্রদূত ইমরান বলেন ১৯৭১ সালে মুক্তিযুদ্ধ চলাকালে এদিন মেহেরপুরের বৈদ্যনাথতলা গ্রামের আম্রকাননে স্বাধীন বাংলাদেশের প্রথম সরকার আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে শপথ গ্রহণ করে। পরে এই বৈদ্যনাথতলাকেই ঐতিহাসিক মুজিবনগর নামকরণ করা হয়।
তিনি আরো বলেন, প্রথম সরকার মুক্তিযুদ্ধে নেতৃত্বদানের ক্ষেত্রে তাদের ওপর অর্পিত দায়িত্ব অত্যন্ত নিষ্ঠা, দক্ষতা এবং আন্তরিকতার সঙ্গে পালন করেছে এবং স্বাধীন বাংলাদেশের পক্ষে আন্তর্জাতিক মতামতকে সুসংহত করেছে।
রাষ্ট্রদূত ইমরান মহান মুক্তিযুদ্ধের চেতনা ও বঙ্গবন্ধুর আদর্শে উদ্বুদ্ধ হয়ে ক্ষুধা ও দারিদ্র্যমুক্ত উন্নত ও সমৃদ্ধ সোনার বাংলা ও স্মার্ট বাংলাদেশ গড়তে সবাইকে একযোগে কাজ করার আহ্বান জানান।
মিনিস্টার (প্রেস) এজেডএম সাজ্জাদ হোসেনও আলোচনায় অংশ নিয়ে ঐতিহাসিক এই দিবসের তাৎপর্য তুলে ধরেন। তিনি উল্লেখ করেন, বাঙালি জাতির স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রামের দীর্ঘ পথচলায় ১৭ এপ্রিল আরও একটি অবিস্মরণীয় দিন।
এরপর জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান, জাতীয় চারনেতা এবং মুক্তিযুদ্ধে জীবনদানকারী সকল শহিদের আত্মার শান্তি ও মাগফেরাত এবং বাংলাদেশের উত্তরোত্তর শান্তি, সমৃদ্ধি ও অগ্রগতি কামনা করে একটি বিশেষ মোনাজাতের মাধ্যমে দিনের কর্মসূচী শেষ হয়। কর্মসূচী পরিচালনা করেন কাউন্সেলর (পলিটিক্যাল-৩) শামীমা ইয়াসমিন স্মৃতি।
Historic Mujibnagar Day observed at Bangladesh Embassy in Washington
Washington DC, 17 April, 2023-The historic Mujibnagar Day was observed at Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC today (Monday) in a befitting manner, recalling the historic ceremonial oath-taking of the first government of independent Bangladesh on 17th April in 1971.
The day’s programs commenced with placing of a floral wreath by Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA Muhammad Imran at the bust of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Bangabandhu Corner of the Embassy. Officials and employees of the Mission were present during the time.
Later, the messages issued on the occasion by President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were read out by Defense Attaché Brigadier General Md Shahedul Islam and First Secretary Md Ataur Rahman at the Bangabandhu Auditorium.
Afterwards, a documentary titled “Mujibnagar: The First Capital of Bangladesh” was screened which was followed by a discussion session highlighting the significance of the day.
Taking part in the discussion, Ambassador Imran paid rich tributes to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and four national leaders — Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, Captain M Mansur Ali and AHM Qamaruzzaman — who successfully led the nation’s nine-month war of independence in absence of Bangabandhu.
The Ambassador described the Mujibnagar Day as a glorious and memorable day of the country’s history, and Mujibnagar as a symbol of heroics of the Bengali nation. On this day in 1971, the first provisional government of independent Bangladesh ceremonially took oath at a mango orchard at Baidyanathtala later named as Mujibnagar in the then Meherpur sub-division, he noted.
Ambassador Imran also said the first provisional government performed their responsibilities with utmost devotion, efficiency and sincerity in leading the War of Liberation and mobilizing international opinion in favour of independent Bangladesh.
He urged all to work together to build a hunger-and-poverty-free developed and prosperous “Sonar Bangla” (Golden Bengal) and “Smart Bangladesh” being imbued with the spirit of the great War of Liberation and ideology of Bangabandhu.
Minister (Press) AZM Sajjad Hossain also took part in the discussion and highlighted the significance of the historic day. The 17th April is a memorable day in the long path of struggle for independence of the Bengali nation, he mentioned.
The day’s programs ended with offering a special prayer seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of the Father of the Nation, the four national leaders and three million martyrs of the War of Liberation as well as continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation. Counsellor (Political-III) Shamima Yeasmin Smrite conducted the programs.
