ওয়াশিংটনে বাংলাদেশ দূতাবাসে আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস পালিত
ভাষা আন্দোলন বাঙালি জাতির জন্য বাতিঘরের মতো: রাষ্ট্রদূত ইমরান
ওয়াশিংটন ডিসি ।। যথাযোগ্য মর্যাদা ও ভাবগম্ভীর্যের সাথে ওয়াশিংটন ডিসিতে অবস্থিত বাংলাদেশ দূতাবাসে গতকাল মঙ্গলবার ‘মহান শহিদ দিবস’ ও আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস পালিত হয়েছে।
বাংলাকে রাষ্ট্রভাষা হিসেবে প্রতিষ্ঠার জন্য ৭১ বছর আগে ঢাকায় জীবন উৎসর্গকারী ভাষাবীরদের সর্বোচ্চ আত্মত্যাগের স্মরণে দূতাবাস দিনব্যাপী এক অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করে।
যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে নিযুক্ত বাংলাদেশের রাষ্ট্রদূত মোহাম্মদ ইমরান কর্তৃক রাত 12:01 মিনিটে দূতাবাস প্রাঙ্গণে নির্মিত শহিদ মিনারের বেদিতে পুষ্পস্তবক অর্পণের মধ্য দিয়ে দিনের কর্মসূচি শুরু হয়।
এসময় ‘অমর একুশে’ নিয়ে রচিত বিখ্যাত গান–“আমার ভাইয়ের রক্তে রাঙানো একুশে ফেব্রুয়ারি, আমি কি ভুলিতে পারি”– বাজানো হয়। দূতাবাসের কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারী ও তাদের পরিবারের সদস্যরা এসময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
সকালে দূতাবাসের কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারীদের উপস্থিতিতে রাষ্ট্রদূত দূতাবাসের সামনে জাতীয় পতাকা অর্ধনমিত করে উত্তোলন করেন। দিবসটি স্মরণে এক প্রভাত ফেরিরও আয়োজন করা হয়।
জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের প্রতি গভীর শ্রদ্ধা জানিয়ে দূতাবাসের বঙ্গবন্ধু কর্নারে অবস্থিত জাতির পিতার আবক্ষ মূর্তিতে পুষ্পস্তবক অর্পণ করা হয়।
দিবসটি উপলক্ষে মহামান্য রাষ্ট্রপতি, মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী, পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী ও পররাষ্ট্র প্রতিমন্ত্রী কর্তৃক প্রদত্ত বাণী পাঠ করে শোনান ডেপুটি চীফ অব মিশন ফেরদৌসী শাহরিয়ার, মিনিস্টার (ইকনোমিক) মোঃ মেহেদী হাসান, মিনিস্টার (প্রেস) এজেডএম সাজ্জাদ হোসেন এবং কাউন্সেলর (পাবলিক ডিপ্লোমেসি) আরিফা রহমান রুমা।
পরে মহান ভাষা আন্দোলনের ইতিহাস নিয়ে নির্মিত দুটি তথ্যচিত্র প্রদর্শন করা হয়। ভাষা আন্দোলনের শহিদের আত্মার মাগফেরাত এবং জাতির অব্যাহত শান্তি, অগ্রগতি ও সমৃদ্ধি কামনা করে বিশেষ মোনাজাত করা হয়।
সন্ধ্যায় বাংলাদেশ দূতাবাস বঙ্গবন্ধু অডিটোরিয়ামে দিনটির তাৎপর্য তুলে ধরে এক আলোচনা সভার আয়োজন করে। পরে বিশ্বব্যাপী সাংস্কৃতিক বৈচিত্র্য তুলে ধরতে বাংলাদেশসহ ছয়টি দেশের শিল্পীরা একটি মনোজ্ঞ সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান পরিবেশন করেন।
রাষ্ট্রদূত মোহাম্মদ ইমরান তার বক্তব্যে মহান ভাষা আন্দোলনের চেতনাকে বাঙালি জাতির জন্য বাতিঘরের মতো আখ্যায়িত করে বলেন, প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার সুযোগ্য নেতৃত্বে দেশ এখন বঙ্গবন্ধুর আজীবনের লালিত স্বপ্ন একটি উন্নত ও সমৃদ্ধ সোনার বাংলায় পরিণত হওয়ার পথে দ্রুত এগিয়ে যাচ্ছে।
তিনি যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশিদের দেশের উন্নয়নে ঐক্যবদ্ধভাবে অবদান রাখতে এবং নতুন প্রজন্মকে সমৃদ্ধ বাংলা ভাষা, সংস্কৃতি ও ঐতিহ্য সম্পর্কে আরও জানতে উৎসাহিত করার আহ্বান জানান।
বঙ্গবন্ধু অডিটোরিয়ামে বাংলাদেশ, ভারত, প্যারাগুয়ে, ঘানা ও নেপালের শিল্পীরা এবং পূর্ব ইউরোপের দেশগুলোর সমন্বয়ে গঠিত একটি সাংস্কৃতিক দল তাদের নিজস্ব সংগীত ও নৃত্য পরিবেশন করে অতিথিদের মুগ্ধ করেন।
অনুষ্ঠানে বিভিন্ন দেশের রাষ্ট্রদূত ও কূটনীতিকবৃন্দ, মার্কিন পররাষ্ট্র দফতর ও সরকারের ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তা, রাজনৈতিক নেতৃবৃন্দ, সাংবাদিক, সামাজিক ও সাংস্কৃতিক সংগঠনের প্রতিনিধি এবং প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশিরা উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
কাউন্সেলর (পলিটিক্যাল-1) মোহাম্মদ মনিরুজ্জামান এবং ফার্স্ট সেক্রেটারি (পাসপোর্ট ও ভিসা উইং) মোঃ আব্দুল হাই মিল্টন দিনব্যাপী দুই পর্বের এই অনুষ্ঠানটি পরিচালনা করেন।
International Mother Language Day observed in Bangladesh Embassy in Washington Language Movement is like a lighthouse for Bengali nation: Ambassador Imran
Washington DC, 22 February, 2023 – The Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC observed “Mohan Shaheed Dibosh” and the International Mother Language Day on Tuesday by paying glowing tributes to the martyrs of the 1952 Language Movement.
The Embassy arranged an elaborate program to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of the language heroes who laid down their lives in Dhaka 71 years ago to establish Bangla as the state language.
The day-long program started with placing of a floral wreath at the altar of the Shaheed Minar by the Bangladesh Ambassador on the embassy premises at one-minute past zero hour.
The immortal song composed on ‘Amar Ekushey’ –” Amar Bhaiyer Rakte Rangano Ekushey February, Ami Ki Bhulite Pari” — was played at that time. Embassy officers and employees and members of their families were also present on the occasion.
In the morning, the Ambassador hoisted the national flag at half-mast in front of the Chancery in the presence of the Embassy officials and employees. A ‘Probhat Ferry’ was arranged to commemorate the day.
A floral wreath was also placed at the bust of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Bangabandhu Corner of the Embassy to pay deep respect to the Father of the Nation.
The messages issued on the occasion by the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out by Deputy Chief of the Mission Ferdousi Shahriar, Minister (Economic) Md Mahadee Hassan, Minister (Press) AZM Sajjad Hossain and Counselor (Public Diplomacy) Arifa Rahman Ruma.
Later, two documentaries made on the history of great Language Movement were screened. A special prayer was offered seeking divine blessings for the martyrs of the Language Movement as well as continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation.
In the evening, the Embassy arranged a discussion meeting followed by a colorful cultural event by Bangladeshi artistes and performers from five countries to show the diversity of culture around the world.
In his remarks, Ambassador Muhammad Imran termed the spirit of great Language Movement as like a lighthouse for Bengali nation and said that Bangladesh is now advancing fast to become a developed and prosperous country as dreamt by Bangabandhu under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by holding that spirit.
He called upon the Bangladesh diaspora in the USA to contribute unitedly towards development of Bangladesh and encourage the new generations to know more about the rich Bangla language, culture and heritage.
The artises from Bangladesh, India, Paraguay, Ghana, and Nepal and a cultural group comprised of East European countries performed captivating the audience with their own songs and dances at the packed Bangabandu Auditorium.
Ambassadors and diplomats from various countries, senior officials of the US State Department and the government, political leaders, journalists, representatives of social and cultural bodies and members of Bangladeshi diaspora attended the event.
