ওয়াশিংটন ডিসিতে শহীদ শেখ কামালের ৭৩তম জন্মবার্ষিকী পালিত
ওয়াশিংটন, ডিসি, ৬ আগস্ট।। গতকাল (শুক্রবার) ওয়াশিংটন ডিসিস্থ বাংলাদেশ দূতাবাসে বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা শহীদ ক্যাপ্টেন শেখ কামালের ৭৩তম জন্মবার্ষিকী যথাযোগ্য মর্যাদায় পালিত হয়।
সমাজ ও জাতির উন্নয়নের পাশাপাশি দেশের ক্রীড়া ও সংস্কৃতির ক্ষেত্রে শহীদ শেখ কামালের অসামান্য অবদানের স্মরণে দূতাবাস বঙ্গবন্ধু মিলনায়তনে বিভিন্ন অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হয়।
মহামান্য রাষ্ট্রপতি ও মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী কর্তৃক এ উপলক্ষে প্রদত্ত বাণী পাঠের মাধ্যমে অনুষ্ঠান শুরু হয়। মিনিস্টার (ইকোনোমিক) মোঃ মেহেদি হাসান এবং মিনিস্টার (পলিটিক্যাল) দেওয়ান আলী আশরাফ এই বাণী পাঠ করেন। পরে এক আলোচনা সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।
আলোচনায় অংশ নিয়ে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে নিযুক্ত বাংলাদেশের রাষ্ট্রদূত মোঃ সহিদুল ইসলাম মহান মুক্তিযুদ্ধ ও যুদ্ধবিধ্বস্ত বাংলাদেশ পুনর্গঠন এবং দেশের ক্রীড়া ও সংস্কৃতির উন্নয়নে শহীদ শেখ কামালের অসামান্য অবদানের কথা শ্রদ্ধার সাথে স্মরণ করেন।
রাষ্ট্রদূত ইসলাম বলেন, শেখ কামাল ছিলেন বহুমাত্রিক প্রতিভার অধিকারী এবং একজন তারুণ্যের রোল মডেল। তিনি বলেন, খেলাধুলা, সঙ্গীত, নাটকসহ অন্যান্য ক্ষেত্রে শহীদ শেখ কামালের অবদান দেশের ইতিহাসে চিরস্মরণীয় হয়ে থাকবে।
রাষ্ট্রদূত ইসলাম আশা প্রকাশ করেন, শহীদ শেখ কামালের আদর্শ অনুসরণ করে দেশের তরুণ প্রজন্ম ক্রীড়া ও সাংস্কৃতিক অঙ্গনকে সাফল্যের সর্বোচ্চ শিখরে নিয়ে যাবে।
আলোচনায় আরো অংশ নেন ডেপুটি চীফ অব মিশন ফেরদৌসি শাহরিয়ার, মিনিস্টার (ইকোনোমিক) মোঃ মেহেদি হাসান ও মিনিস্টার (প্রেস) এজেডএম সাজ্জাদ হোসেন। কাউন্সেলর এবং হেড অফ চ্যান্সেরী মোঃ মাহমুদুল ইসলাম অনুষ্ঠান পরিচালনা করেন।
আলোচনা শেষে শেখ কামালের জীবন ও কর্মের ওপর একটি প্রামাণ্যচিত্র প্রদর্শন করা হয়। ১৯৭৫ সালের ১৫ আগস্ট রাতে শহীদ শেখ কামাল, বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান, বঙ্গমাতা ফজিলাতুন নেছা মুজিব, তাদের পরিবারের শহীদ সদস্যদের এবং অন্যান্যদের বিদেহী আত্মার মাগফেরাত কামনা করে বিশেষ মোনাজাত করা হয়।
এর আগে রাষ্ট্রদূত শহীদ শেখ কামালের প্রতিকৃতিতে পুষ্পস্তবক অর্পণ করে তার প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা নিবেদন করেন। এ সময় দূতাবাসের কর্মকর্তারা উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
Shaheed Sheikh Kamal’s 73rd birth Anniversary observed in Washington DC
Washington, DC, The 73rd birth anniversary of valiant Freedom Fighter Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal was observed at Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC today (Friday) in a befitting manner.
The Embassy organised different programs at the Bangabandhu Auditorium to commemorate outstanding contributions of Shaheed Sheikh Kamal to the fields of sports and culture of the country alongside development of the society and nation.
The programs began with reading out of messages from the Hon’ble President and the Hon’ble Prime Minister. Minister (Economic) Md Mahadee Hassan and Minister (Political) Dewan Ali Ashraf read out the messages. Later, a discussion session was held.
Taking part in the discussion, Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States M Shahidul Islam recalled Shaheed Sheikh Kamal’s outstanding contributions to the great Liberation War, rebuilding the war-ravaged Bangladesh and the development of sports and culture after independence.
Ambassador Islam said Sheikh Kamal possessed multidimensional talents and was a role model for the youthfolk. Shaheed Sheikh Kamal’s contributions to sports, music, drama and other fields will be remembered forever in the country’s history, he continued.
Ambassador Islam hoped that the country’s young generation would take sports and cultural arenas to the highest peak of the success by following the ideology of Shaheed Sheikh Kamal.
Deputy Chief of the Mission Ferdousi Shahriar, Minister (Economic) Md. Mahadee Hassan and Minister (Press) AZM Sajjad Hossain took part in the discussion. Counsellor and Head of Chancery Md Mahmudul Islam conducted the programs.
After the discussion, a documentary on the life and works of Shaheed Sheikh Kamal was screened. A special prayer was offered, seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Sheikh Kamal, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, their family members, and others martyred on the fateful night of 15 August 1975.
Earlier, the Ambassador placed a floral wreath at the portrait of Shaheed Sheikh Kamal to pay his homage. Officers of the Embassy were present on the occasion.
