Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU) recognises BAT Bangladesh as the top taxpayer
[Dhaka, January 25, 2024] BAT Bangladesh has been recognised as the top taxpayer for the 2022-2023 fiscal year by the Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU) of the National Board of Revenue (NBR). The company, contributing an amount of Tk 1,352 crore as Corporate Tax to the National Exchequer, received recognition for being the highest taxpayer for the fiscal year 2022-23.
Last Wednesday, LTU organised a ceremony at the NBR office, Agargaon, where the chief guest was Mr. Syed Mohammad Abu Daud, Member – Tax Administration and Human Resource Management, NBR. The function was presided over by Mr. Md. Iqbal Bahar, Tax Commissioner, LTU, Dhaka.
BAT Bangladesh’s Company Secretary – Mr Azizur Rahman FCS, Area Head of Corporate Finance – Nashva Bint Hamid and Assistant Manager, Fiscal Affairs – Baizid Haque Joarder received the accolade on behalf of the Company, at the event.
After receiving the recognition as the top taxpayer, Md. Azizur Rahman said, “BAT Bangladesh fully complies with the laws and regulations of the Country, maintains complete transparency and pays taxes on time. In order to build a Smart Bangladesh, we strongly believe we can play a pivotal role as a significant partner in the country’s development in the coming years.”
BAT Bangladesh contributed approximately Tk 31,507 crore in the forms of Value Added Tax (VAT), Supplementary duty (SD), Corporate Tax, Import Duty & other Duties during the said fiscal year.

[ঢাকা, ২৫ জানুয়ারি, ২০২৪] ২০২২-২৩ করবর্ষে আবারও দেশের সেরা করদাতা প্রতিষ্ঠান হিসেবে স্বীকৃতি পেয়েছে বিএটি বাংলাদেশ। দেশের অর্থনৈতিক উন্নয়নে অবদান রাখতে এই করবর্ষে রাষ্ট্রীয় কোষাগারে মোট ১,৩৫২ কোটি টাকা কর্পোরেট ট্যাক্স হিসেবে জমা দিয়েছে প্রতিষ্ঠানটি। বুধবার রাজধানীর জাতীয় রাজস্ব বোর্ড কার্যালয়ে বৃহৎ করদাতা ইউনিট (LTU) প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক করদাতাদের “বিশেষ সম্মাননা ও সম্মাননাপত্র প্রদান” শীর্ষক অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করে।
অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি ছিলেন জাতীয় রাজস্ব বোর্ডের কর প্রশাসন ও মানবসম্পদ ব্যবস্থাপনা সদস্য সৈয়দ মোহাম্মদ আবু দাউদ। অনুষ্ঠানটিতে সভাপতিত্ব করেন বৃহৎ করদাতা ইউনিট (LTU) এর কর কমিশনার মোঃ ইকবাল বাহার।
উল্লিখিত করবর্ষে প্রতিষ্ঠানটি মূল্য সংযোজন কর, সম্পূরক শুল্ক, করপোরেট ট্যাক্স, আমদানি শুল্ক এবং অন্যান্য কর হিসেবে রাষ্ট্রীয় কোষাগারে সবচেয়ে বেশি প্রায় ৩১,৫০৭ কোটি টাকা জমা দিয়েছে।
অনুষ্ঠানে অন্যান্যদের মধ্যে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিএটি বাংলাদেশের কোম্পানি সেক্রেটারি মো. আজিজুর রহমান এফসিএস, এরিয়া হেড অব কর্পোরেট ফাইন্যান্স নাশভা বিনত হামিদ, এবং সহকারী ব্যবস্থাপক, ফিস্কাল অ্যাফেয়ার্স বায়জিদ হক জোয়ারদার।
সেরা করদাতা হিসেবে সম্মাননা প্রাপ্তির পর বিএটি বাংলাদেশের কোম্পানি সেক্রেটারি মো. আজিজুর রহমান এফসিএস বলেন, “বিএটি বাংলাদেশ সম্পূর্ণভাবে দেশের আইন ও বিধি মেনে চলে, শতভাগ স্বচ্ছতা বজায় রাখে এবং সময়মতো কর প্রদান করে। স্মার্ট বাংলাদেশ বিনির্মাণের মাধ্যমে একটি সম্ভাবনাময় আগামীর লক্ষ্য অর্জনে আগামী বছরগুলোতেও দেশের অগ্রগতির উল্লেখযোগ্য অংশীদার হিসেবে ভূমিকা রাখবো বলে আমরা দৃঢ় বিশ্বাসী।”
