The World Economic Forum (WEF) marks its 50th anniversary in this year of 2020. World leaders, chief executives of big business organizations, renowned thinkers and celebrities are gathering in the mountain town of Davos in Switzerland for the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum that kicked off on Tuesday, the 21st January. The event of the World Economic Forum will be held from January 21 to January 24, 2020 in Davos, Switzerland. The World Economic Forum is built on the idea that the world needs better co-operation between the private and public sectors to best tackle global challenges. The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters convenes world leaders every year to discuss the global, regional and industry agendas at the beginning of each year. The World Economic Forum’s mission is to improve the state of the world, which has driven the design and development of the Annual Meeting objectives. Every year, the world waits for eminent speakers to share their thoughts and plans for the coming year on critical issues. The theme of the World Economic Forum in 2020 is “Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World.” The theme reflects the number of chief executives who have pledged to start paying as much attention to employees, customers and the environment as to their shareholders.  Going by the theme of the 50th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, which calls itself an international organisation for public-private partnership, more than 3,000 high powered global leaders are assembling and meeting here  this week for four days as ‘stakeholders for a cohesive and sustainable world’. The main themes for the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2020 include how to reduce the long-term debt burden and keep the economy working at a pace that allows for greater inclusion, and how to create a global consensus on deployment of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies and avoid a “technology war” for the growth prosperity and vitality of the world

The World Economic Forum’s Founder and Executive Chairman, Klaus Schwab said in a statement, “Our efforts to keep global warming limited to 1.5°C are falling dangerously short. With the world at such critical crossroads, this year we must develop a ‘Davos Manifesto 2020’ to reimagine the purpose and scorecards for companies and governments.” Some of the world leaders who are attending the meeting are: President of United States Donald Trump; Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel; Prime Minister of  Japan Shinzo Abe; Prime Minister of Finland, Sanna Marin; Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng; Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan ; Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez; Former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair ; Former U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown; the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von Der Leyen;  President of the European Central Bank Christine Legarde; Managing Director of the IMF Christalina Georgieva; Chancellor of the Exchequer of UK Sajid Javid; U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, and U.S. trade negotiator Robert Lighthizer. Some of the world famous business leaders and celebrities who are attending the meeting of the  world Economic Forum are renowned climate campaigner Greta Thunberg;  George Soros, Chairman of Soros Fund Management of United States; Goldman Sachs boss David Solomon of U.S.; Jamie Dimon, the chairman and chief executive of JP Morgan Chase, Black Rock’s Larry Fink, Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg; Dara Khosrowshahi, the chief executive officer of Uber; Huawei Technologies founder of China Jheng fei, Bollywood Star Deepika Padukon and many other high powered global political, business leaders and thinkers reaching three thousand delegates.
