This G7 summit is being held in person after two years due to COVID-q219 Pandemic.

The richest industrialised nations formed their G-7 Club in 1975. Who are the members and present leaders of the G-7 countries?  World’s richest industrialised nations are called the G-7 countries: The seven G 7 countries are the United States, Canada, Great Britain, France, Germany, Japan and Italy. The present leaders as well as heads of Governments of the G-7 countries are U.S President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson; Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel; French President Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister of Japan, Yoshihide Suga and  Italian Prime Minister, Dragi. These powerful leaders of seven super developed countries are attending the G-7 Summit.  in G-7 leaders generally do meaningful discussions like global economy, global security, environment, improving bilateral or multilateral relationship among countries, trade and tariffs etc.. The President of the European Commission has been a permanently welcome participant at all meetings and decision-making since 1981.

And it’s the first time that the leaders of the world’s biggest democracies have gathered like this since their countries were hit by a genuine global emergency called COVID-19 Pandemic.

It follows President Biden’s announcement ahead of this weekend’s G7summit that the US will donate 500 million doses of vaccine to the poorer countries.  In this regard Canada also wants to donate 100 vaccine doses. U.K. wants to donate more than 100 million doses.  In this regard, G7 countries promised to share 1 billion vaccine does (100 crore vaccine doses) with poorer countries. G7 leaders also intend to pledge all their resources to ensure a global pandemic like Covid-19 is never repeated. The measures include cutting the time needed to develop vaccines and treatments for Covid-19 to under 100 days.

The new American president Joe Biden also hopes to restore traditional American alliance on his Europe trip. The relationship of G-7 members with the United States was sharply deteriorated under the then unpredictable and reckless U.S. President Donald Trump’s whimsical tariffs and reckless policies. Joe Biden wants to improve relationship with G-7 counties deteriorated by Trump.

At the G7 meeting in Britain, President Biden calls for a new alliance to rival China’s spending on infrastructure in developing countries. The US and its allies accused China of forced labour and other human rights abuses in Xinjiang province. G- 7 countries also want a uniform corporate tax increase to 15%.

On the 2nd day of G 7 summit, the meeting will focus on COVID-19, climate change, global economic agenda and cyber threat. We sincerely hope, the G7 summit will end on 13th June with more fruitful and meaningful discussions for the growth, prosperity and vitality of the world economy by eradicating poverty as well as by totally bringing an end to COVID-19 Pandemic.
